Lens on the past, focus on the future

The Hawaiian Media Makers Conference is a full day of event activities meant to empower our community, delve into the work we do using a cultural lens, and begin a discussion of protocols for visiting professionals.

This exciting event, put on by Pacific Islanders in Communications, will be held on October 29, 2014, the day before the Hawaii International Film Festival (HIFF) opening night and is a wonderful start to the HIFF festivities.

Featuring over 35 presenters from all aspects of the media industry, from Hawaiʻi and abroad. Breakout sessions are distributed between three main topics: Media, Culture, and Business. Our lunch presentation will feature an all-Māori panel of media makers from Aotearoa (New Zealand) who will discuss building a native industry.
