Telling the Stories of the Pacific
Welcome to piccom.org, a window into Pacific Island culture and community. Pacific Islanders in Communications (PIC) is a non-profit organization that tells the stories of Pacific Islanders—the first peoples of Hawai'i, Guam, America Samoa, and other Pacific Islands—by supporting, promoting, and developing Pacific Island media content and talent. By funding and distributing film, video, and new media to the broadest possible audience, PIC seeks to generate a deeper understanding of Pacific Island history, culture, and contemporary challenges. PIC also provides scholarships, training, professional development, and community to support media talent.
PIC's funding comes through donations from people who have an interest in Pacific Islander culture and from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Great care is taken to ensure that this funding meets the goals set by PIC's founders for the enhancement of Pacific Islander history, culture, and society. Additional support for PIC comes from those who shop here for films and video programs about Pacific Islander culture.
