Funding Deadlines

The Film Society is dedicated to supporting emerging and established filmmakers. The project development and fiscal sponsorship program is designed to help you step by step through the process of getting your documentary film funded, made and seen.

The Jerome Foundation operates production grant programs for individual film and video artists who reside within five boroughs of New York City and Minnesota. These programs serve artists who work in the genres of experimental, narrative, animation, and documentary production.

This grant gives filmmakers a chance to get their films going or completed with an award of $2,500 in cash and $30,000 in film products and services. Films can be documentaries, short films, and features and must be unique and contribute to society.

The Diversity Development Fund (DDF) provides up to $15,000 in research and development funding to producers of color to develop single documentary programs for public television. Funded activities may include travel, research, script development, preliminary production for fundraising/work-in-progress reels, or other early phase activities.

The Tribeca Film Institute Documentary Fund furthers the development of exceptional character-driven, non-fiction works that spotlight contemporary themes with an original focus and bold, creative filmmaking. Grants of at least $10, 000 will be awarded in 2015 to feature-length documentaries with an intended length of at least 70 minutes and should creatively document unique character(s).
