Program Deadlines
Lionsgate UK is partnering with Idris Elba’s Green Door Pictures to launch a writing competition for UK residents who want to write a TV drama series.The Write To Green Light initiative, which is open for submissions now, is designed to discover new creative voices for television.
- Shortform Editing Residency - Points North Institute - August 10 11:50 p.m. (EST)
Taking place September 11 – 18, the Shortform Residency provides a focused, creative space for independent nonfiction filmmakers and multimedia journalists to work on their short films or episodic documentaries with guidance from experienced mentors.

Funding Deadlines
- Sundance Documentary Fund - rolling deadline
The Sundance Documentary Film Program supports non-fiction filmmakers worldwide in the production of cinematic documentaries on contemporary themes. Established in 2002 with founding support from Open Society Foundations, the Program is a vibrant global resource for independent non-fiction storytelling. Recent projects include The Square, The Queen of Versailles, Rich Hill, The Invisible War and The Genius of Marian.
- Ford Foundation Grants - rolling deadline
Ford Foundation grant making focuses on reducing poverty and injustice; promoting democratic values; and advancing human knowledge, creativity and achievement. Requests are accepted in categories such as project planning and support; general support; and endowments. Types of support include grants, recoverable grants, loans and loan guarantees.
- Diversity Development Fund Deadline (ITVS) - August 19 at 4 p.m. PDT
The Diversity Development Fund (DDF) provides up to $15,000 in research and development funding to producers of color to develop single documentary programs for public television. Funded activities may include travel, research, script development, preliminary production for fundraising/work-in-progress reels, or other early phase activities.
